In the marble foyer of designer Caroline Gidiere’s exuberant Alabama home, miniature English cream dachshund Buttercup welcomes guests to ponder over the collection of Chinese blue-and-white exportware vases and the classical moldings above. The Regency lantern above is from Vaughan.

Designer Philip Mitchell’s Ganaraskans, Wylo and Jacob, relax on a Dash & Albert rug in the cozy mudroom of this 18th-century Nova Scotia harbor cottage. Mitchell papered the ceiling in a Thibaut paisley print and painted the walls Hancock Gray by Benjamin Moore.

Homeowner Follin Smith’s Jack Russell terrier, Izzy, explores the front walk of this 1850s stone farmhouse in Pennsylvania. Follin tapped lifelong friend and designer Richard Keith Langham to bring high style into the hallways of the home, while architect Timothy L. Clites reimagined the home’s façade. Clites framed the front entrance painted in Benjamin Moore’s Geranium with latticed “night doors.”

13. Meet Pip, Clara, and Max
Pip, Clara, and Max nap on a built-in sofa surrounded by herb and vegetable beds in this Mediterranean-inspired oasis designed by landscape architect Scott Shrader. Agave salmiana and olive trees are among the various plantings decorating the 200-acre property in the mountains of Malibu.

Designer Christopher Spitzmiller and his Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Fanny, play in the snow as they wait for dinner guests to arrive at their Hudson Valley home. The shutters on the Greek Revival farmhouse are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy.

After roaming the halls and grounds of Château de Pouy-sur-Vannes, Gloria, the French hunting dog of Juan Pablo Molyneux, rests on a Chatsworth House-inspired canopy bed. Molyneux covered the pillows in a Sabina Fay Braxton fabric and the bench and wall in a La Manufacture Prelle fabric.

16. Meet Bose
Bose, a handsome whippet, finds comfort on a leather English sofa within the home office of owner Michael DePerno. Lifelong furniture collectors, DePerno and his partner Andrew Fry sprinkled each room of their Connecticut cottage with pedigreed antiques like the office’s Native American rug and chair. The artwork is by Ronald Bladen.

Each room and hallway of designer John Oetgen’s 1960s Atlanta apartment acts as a gallery for his world-class art collection including the home library, where Double and Gibb relax on a custom sofa. A Venetian black bird mask and bronze rhinoceros from a Paris flea market keep the pair company. The cowhide rug is from Stark, and the floor lamp is by Robert Kuo.

Stanley Dixon incorporated many windows and open doors to connect the contemporary interiors by Carolyn Malone to the surrounding tranquil and manicured gardens.

Surrounded by fragrant beds of roses and bubbling 19th-century fountains, Oprah and her golden retriever, Luke, take in the serene nature and striking views from her outdoor sanctuary in Montecito, California. The media mogul worked with master rosarian Dan Bifano in developing crushed granite pathways with matching stonework to frame myrtle topiaries bushes and Oprah’s favorite blooms, including Honey Dijon and Tuscan roses.
