The Golden State Warriors won their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, but they did not have to face LeBron James. James did not suit up for this battle in Golden State, despite his desire to play in half of LA’s preseason games. After the game, James joined his colleague Anthony Davis for a playful exchange with Steph Curry, which became a viral moment.

Curry and James are opponents on the court, but they are good friends off the court. Fans have speculated on what this talk was about, with some supposing the stars were discussing their forthcoming Team USA run and others assuming there was some lighthearted joking about the Lakers sending Golden State home last season.

There was certainly some levity in whatever this talk was about, as all three guys laughed together. It’s always entertaining to witness NBA stars interact in this way, especially after a low-stakes preseason game when everyone is simply trying to get their feet back under them after a long summer.

Neither the Warriors nor the Lakers finished where they hoped to last season, but Los Angeles had a much better run, especially when expectations were considered. Following on from last season, both Los Angeles and Golden State have their sights set on a championship this year.
